Chaise in France

I recently recieved this photograph of my chaise in its new home in France!

Workshop

The above photo was the final mould for my Outcast chair and below is a shot of me blending some woodchips to begin casting the chair.

Outcast - Final Renderings

These were my final renders for my Outcast chair. The photographs were taken in St. Andrews Square and Dalkeith Country Park in Edinburgh.

Outcast - Design Evolution

The image above is the design I chose to proceed with. I liked the simplicity of it and that it did not shadow the mulch. The images below were the other ideas I was playing with.

Outcast - First rendering

This is a first render at a very early stage in my design process. I was experimenting with the idea of using a contrasting material on points where the user would sit and touch. I later decided as the material was so intesting, I should limit the design and focus on the form of the chair.

Outcast - Hand Renderings

These hand renderings were to illustrate the environment which the chair was aimed at. I hope this also helped to show the clientele and market class.

Outcast - Models

These models are were made early on in the prototype stage, as creating a mould for a entire chair was a lot more complicated as I first anticipated. the model helped to calculate angles and exactly how the mould would go together.

Outcast - Sketches

These sketches were my initial ideas for my Honors project. I wanted to explore under utilised materials and the one which I chose to develop was mulch. I also wanted to push the boundries in terms of form and creating something which was exciting and innovative.

Chaise

These are photographs of my finished chaise long which was on exhibition in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. This was the first piece I sold and it went to a lovely couple from the North of Scotland who are keen collecters of new designers work. It is upholstered in stunning fabric by Bute Fabrics.
